Rebecca is a freelance photographer and illustrator and she has a fun and quirky with her characters as well as some simply stunning photography.
We are really looking forward to meeting Rebecca in a few weeks time as she heads to the Tigerprint studio for a two week placement. In the meantime here is a little bit more about Rebecca:
What three to five words would you use to describe your work?
Every picture tells a story
What inspires you?
Life! There's inspiration everywhere. I'm always looking at what's happening around me. People watching. When I am doing photography, I try to capture that little spark of inspiration, joy, sorrow... whatever is happening in that special moment and freeze it so it can last forever.
What was your first job? When/how did you know you wanted a career in art?
There's never really been any question about what career I wanted - apart from the usual little girl dream of being a vet. I have always been interested in art. It's one of those things, I feel I don't just want to do - I need to do! My education all went in this direction, and I now dream of making a living from it.
Design books/blogs you can’t live without:
There are way too many to mention, and they are constantly changing. I always love the Taschen books, as they are so packed with different artists. I like to pick up old books and magazines, leaflets, photos and things. These are what I wouldn't want to be without.
What’s next?
Life is pretty uncertain at the moment so I couldn't really say. I am being creative, working on projects and trying to better myself everyday and taking up new opportunities. I’ll continue to make amazing art, and hope to be working in a creative job in the very near future
What mediums do you work with?
Throughout college and uni, I had so much fun experimenting with all the different mediums, and still try to implement this now, and keep variety in my work. This also makes me a lot more adaptable for different briefs. However, most of my work is photographic, either taking candid shots, or working with props. I feel alive behind the camera. I also have a soft spot for making little needle felted creations.
