The Big Draw 2011

 
Saturday 1st October marks the start of The Big Draw an annual month-long festival of over one thousand events across the UK. Every October, museums, galleries, heritage sites, libraries, schools and parks join in – inviting people of all ages to discover how drawing can connect them with their surroundings and the wider community.

This morning in both our London and Bradford studios all Tigerprinters received their themes to begin The Big Draw bright and early Saturday morning.

Roobarb is turning three!

 

Some of you may recall our post last year on Roobarb a delightful shop situated in Marsden, Huddersfield. The owner Sarah has a background in textiles and sells her own product amongst the other lines which she stocks, mainly furniture, home ware, gifts and a wide range of handmade products.

The shop opened in October 2008 and this Saturday, 1st October marks it's 3rd birthday. Sarah has been busy planning a little party which will take place at the shop on Saturday. There will be 10% off in store for the day , Cupcakes & Pink Fizz. So what more of an excuse do you need to head over there this weekend?

Floral Photography - Judging Preparation

Laura and I have spent a the afternoon preparing for judging day tomorrow for the Floral Photography Competition. Because there are a record number of entries (over 600) we have split your entries into colour categories to make it easier on the judges eyes.

Floral Photography Competition - Last day

Today is the last day to enter the Floral Photography Competition and you can submit your entries up until midnight tonight UK time.

We've had so many amazing entries and I cannot wait for judging next week but it's going to be a tough call and we will probably need double sweet supplies to help us through.

We won't be judging until Wednesday next week so you'll have a little wait to hear the results but with the amount of entries we need the extra time to prepare for judging day. As usual you'll be able to see behind the scenes of the judging process here on the blog and on our Facebook page.

In the meantime make sure you check out our latest competition to design a card for a special female in your life.

Calendars and Diaries Competition Judging

The judging for the Calendars & Diaries Competition took place early this morning and we were looking for really innovative ideas for calendars and diaries so organize our busy work and social lives.

I'm sure alot of you will agree that this was a tough brief and much tougher than our usual briefs. Well done to everyone who submitted ideas we were really impressed by the quality and level of detail your entries displayed.

Our winning entry is shown above by Jade Hemmins and the judges were impressed by the innovative use of QR codes within the design of this diary which compliment the cupcake design and recipe idea. This concept has alot of potential to be developed for the intended customer and Jade has considered all aspects of the 'no children' customer and what she would want.

Although the competition was primarily about innovation we did really love Jade's very commercial cupcake characters which compliment the integration of QR technology and the physical and digital information we all need to store carefully. Congratulations Jade.

We really loved how Hollie had considered how we use our diaries for both work and social and the divide on the diary is a great idea. The stickers really compliment the design here and would make for an easy life. Well done Hollie.

This entry by Jennifer really made the judges giggle (all female) as its a really quirky portrayal of singleton life. Perhaps a little too risque for our customers but with some adaptation we think this could be pretty commercial. Great work Jennifer.

The judges loved how this design by Melanie used a different format for the days of the week which is a move on from what we already do. Nice use of extras such as the metric converter and 2014 overview. Well done Melanie.

This design by Kate was one of a handful that tackled the family profile and I think you'll agree it would be a great addition to a family household. We particularly loved the personalisation element to this concept. Well done Kate.

A big congratulations to our winner Jade who will receive £200 and also our runners up; Hollie, Jennifer, Melanie and Kate who will each receive a Tigerprint goodie bag.

Calendars and Diaries Competition Judging

 

Competition judging for the Calendars and Diaries Competition was an early affair this morning as we started at 9am which meant some of the judges brought along breakfast. Unfortunately it meant it was too early to crack open the sweet supplies so there will be more for next weeks judging of the Floral Photography Competition.

So above are a few sneak peaks of the judging process and I'll shortly announce our top entries followed by the winner and runners up later this afternoon.

Latest Competition: Female Special Relationship Card

 

Here we have it the latest Tigerprint On-line Competition which is to create a card for a female send to that special person in your life whether it be your mum, grandma, sister etc.

This is a great chance to show off your unique style and bring some freshness to the Tigerprint female range so don't forget to do your research and see what we already do here.

I finished uploading the last of the Calendars and Diaries entries just before lunch today and judging will be taking place on Tuesday next week so stay tuned for updates.

Don't forget this month we had an extra competition, Floral Photography which is shaping up rather nicely. You still have a week to get those flash bulbs or memory cards working over time as submissions will be accepted until midnight (UK time) Thursday 22nd September.
