Irma Boom’s work explores the creative boundaries of print and the imagination. She is not interested in precise typography or perfect print; it is the idea that always dominates.
She has designed scores of books, as well as teaching at Yale in the US and the Van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.
She was rewarded as 'The Most Beautiful Book in the World’ at the Leipzig Book Fair.
Irma will be doing a talk at D&AD on the 18th September if anyone is interested.
Tony Davidson is Executive Creative Director of W+K London - advertising Company. Hes worked with many ad companies on campaigns such as: Cadburys, Heinz, adidas, Hyundai, Levi's (Flat Eric!), Audi and the iconic Honda ad campaign. Hes won many advertising awards in his career and is doing a talk in at Urbis in Manchester on the 5th September starting at 6.45pm.

(O)ffensive + (D)elightful has some quite nice cards and some not so nice - some quite rude - but non the less - inspiration! Take from it what you will.
Second Hand Rose has some beautiful vintage wallpapers for sale. They make really good reference for pattern and colour.
I found this lovely ceramicist on the internet - Stephanie DeArmond (who I think is actually a man- I'm sure I saw a picture of a man on the website but it seems to have dissapeared.) S/he studied at the University of Colorado and has had many exhibitions and residencies throughout the world. S/he has also taught at various places and has gallery experience too.
I really like the work it's a really interesting use of type mixed in with nostalgic patterns and I think this sort of thing might work well as part of our type/sentiment briefs....

I saw these boxes on wishing bone. Based on a vintage Japanese design, the provide cool storage, but could be a good for gift boxes . Made of woven cotton fabric in botanical or abstract prints, 'the clever design opens and closes with an accordion-like effect offering significant space in a small product'.
I came across this company umpen editions on a recent comp shop trip in Manchester. There are a variety of decorative fonts for inspiration, all brightly coloured. Like the idea of sending them to someone whos initial it is, a personal touch. There are numbers too, good to send as age cards or lucky numbers.
