We know it’s early but for this month’s competition we would like you to get into the festive spirit. This reflects how the Tigerprint studio works as we are already working on Christmas 2012!
Please design a card that explores ‘Christmas typography’ as the main theme. - The type needs to be the integral part of the design, but you could also consider combining illustration with the lettering.
Consider your choice of font and maybe consider mixing font styles too, maybe your font choice could be hand drawn?
Maybe you could create letters from found objects that are Christmas related?
Last year we included a design that was created using home made biscuits! We also included a design created using Light painting (drawing the letters with a light source and then photographing this on a long exposure) the results for both cards were excellent and consequently both designs sold really well! So this is a great opportunity to make use of
any new techniques that you think are suitable for this brief!
It is important to consider your recipient (who will receive the card?) the typography needs to relate to this, as does the colour palette that you choose. Is it a male send or a female send? or a general Christmas card? your colour palette needs to reflect this.
The card will be available in three sizes on our personalised cards website these are:
220mm x 220mm
150mm x 150mm
105mm x 105mm
Please remember this card will be an on-line purchase so it is really important that the design can be transferred from a small design to a large design whilst retaining its visual impact and appeal throughout all sizes.
Have a look at our ranges on-line to get an idea of how the designs look and how your design could ultimately sit amongst others on the site.
Online cards are unique in that they allow the customer to edit an area of the design with words and even upload their own photograph, they may add the recipients name or a personal message so it is important to remember this when designing your card, as this is what makes the on-line cards a little bit more special than the cards you may find on
the high street. Please make sure you consider an area where the recipient can add a friend’s name, or a personal message or even a photograph!
The final thing to remember is it’s important to consider that this design should be suitable for our customer Marks and Spencer.
