This month Tigerprint were thrilled to set you a brief to create beautiful Black and White Pattern.
We had a broad mix of entries, some really stood out commercially, whilst others caught our eye trying something new and different. Some of you played it safe too, we love your designs but keep in mind that our in-house designers create patterns on a daily basis, if it's something we can do we won't pick your design.
In addition, our judges selected 4 runners up, who will each receive a copy of Designing Patterns for Decoration, Fashion & Graphics, by Lotta Kühlhorn.
By Samantha Booth.
This month our winning entry (see above) has been created by Samantha Booth. The judges felt Samantha's design has commercial appeal and takes inspiration from current trends.
Congratulations, Samantha and we look forward to working with your design.
The judges felt that Ailsa's pattern moved on a softer animal print look. There is maybe a little bit too much black in the design, but they liked the different marks. Well done Ailsa.
By Lauren Hunt.
The judges like the composition and layout of Lauren's design. They liked the use of fresh, clean shapes and the way the repeating elements open out into placement pattern. The judges think the design could work well on a card or crop sections to create a wrap. Well done Lauren.
By Lizzie Hobbs.
The judges felt Lizzie created a intricate and interesting pattern. The design draws your eye in and there is lots of detail to explore. We feel that this would look great on a bag or fabric print. Well done Lizzie.
By Rachel Bayliss.
Tigerprint enjoy working with fonts and we love to see patterns created from hand drawn type. Rachel Bayliss' design demonstrates how to play with type to create an interesting pattern. Well done Rachel.
Congratulations to Samantha, Ailsa, Lauren, Lizzie and Rachel and a very big thank you to everyone who entered the competition.
The next competition, Mother's Day Florals, is open for submissions! You've got until Monday 28th April 2014 to enter.
Have a great day!
