Tigerprint UK Website Refresh/Redesign

Hello Tigerprinters.

Not so long ago, we refreshed our TP Blog, taking it from the old black banners and button styles to the new bright colourful style you see today. Feedback about the blog has been great, and we would like to thank you all for the lovely comments.

However, our main Tigerprint website needs a re-fresh, to bring it in line with the blog. The only stipulation is that we need to keep black for the Tigerprint logo/text and rings, and incorporate this into the new design as this reflects our corporate branding.

This is where you come in. As this is where you would come to find out what we're all about and how to get in touch, we'd love to hear your thoughts on the website, good and bad, to help us create the new one with you all in mind. Does navigating through the site make sense, is it intuitive enough? Is there anything you'd like to see/be removed? All comments will be read and considered.

The Eco Zoo

Just when you thought you had been told to recycle enough, the animals of the Eco Zoo have started as well.Take a look at the The Eco Zoo site for its fantastic 3D rotating skills and pop-up stories!

MINT

This is a mint website in both senses of the word. As in it is good/mint, and it also advertise' a selection of mints and such sweets.

With a travelling fairground look about it, it holds flash games, a camp email message, and a nice way of displaying their products where you shoot them, along with tin ducks. A bit over the top for tinned sweets, but it's selling point is that the taste is full on so it aplies well. Check it out here.

I found this site for Checkland Kindleysides and it has some of the coolest flash work I've seen, really elegant. So check it out

Graphic Competitions Dot Com

For those looking to add an international flavour to their portfolios, a website called Graphic Competitions is a directory of various worldwide design competitions. It was created and is currently managed by Francesco Natali from Italy. There are competitions for every creative discipline & are sorted into categories & also by deadline.

The most current design contest is for the Film Sokolov 07 film festival based in the Czech Republic. The brief is to submit a piece of work containing or describing a scam but there is no constraint on the technique. Full details can be reached through the link on the Graphic Competitions website.

All competitions offer some sort of prize, money or free stuff, & most are open to everyone, irrespective of country, so if you want to chance your arm, have a look. Worth submitting our own Tigerprint competitions for increased global awareness.

Google Goes Green by Going Black

Search for ways to be more energy efficient with an energy efficient search engine!

When your screen is white, be it an empty word page, or the Google page, your computer consumes 74 watts, and when it's black it consumes only 59 watts. Mark Ontkush wrote an article about the energy saving that would be achieved if Google had a black screen. Taking into account their huge number of page views, according to his calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved.

In a response to this article Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but with lower energy consumption. Use it here.
