Well we had such a fun morning judging the Female Photography Competition and were pretty excited about the collection of images we've pulled together. So much in fact that this month as well as the winner receiving a monetary prize we'll be offering the runners up one too! All that and they get a fab design book too!
So without further ado this month's winner is 'Ellie's Shoes as shown above by Pandaslovebamboo. All the judges loved the composition of this image and the fab use of colour. It's a really contemporary image and bang on trend. Congratulations!
The runners up are as follows:
A really well composed shot here by Stephanie and bang on trend with showing only the legs. This also makes it very commercial as it doesn't become a limited send by showing a persons face. We could see this image working with a variety of backgrounds too. Well done Stephanie.
This entry really stood out as the composition is really contemporary and the subject matter perfect for a female send. A really beautiful and commercial entry - well done Rosie.
We don't often tend to show people's faces on our products as it tends to limit the send. However this stunning entry really changed our minds. A great composition and colour treatment. Great work Terri.
I'll let you in on a little secret here, this entry was one of my favourites. It's a beautiful composition and I would love to send this as a blank to friends. The treatment really adds to this and again it's a quirky yet contemporary entry which really stood out. Fantastic Nicola.
So a huge congratulations to our winner and runners up and we'll keep you posted on where these entries end up.
The judges were really impressed with the quality of entries and there are some amazing photographers and stylists out there that we would love to work with.
We will be contacting a few of you with a view to purchasing your photos as we were really blown away by them especially some of the floral photography. Hence why we've decided to add an extra competition this month in addition to Calendars and Diaries. Floral Photography will be launched tomorrow so check back for updates.
In the meantime you all deserve a huge thank you from the team at Tigerprint for all your hard work this month - well done guys!
Now i've not posted any Tigerprinters photography for a little while so I thought I would provide you with a little friday morning inspiration. It comes in the form of a personal mantra which I have displayed on my home office wall.
I don't know about the rest of you guys but here in Bradford these past few days we have had some pretty stormy weather. Only yesterday on my daily commute did I battle through wind, rain, hail, sleet then sunshine. It reminded me of a photo I saw recently by a colleague Scott_flikr over on Flickr which you should check out.
Please feel free to send any of your own photos or link suggestions to feature on the blog.
Flickr is a great site to where more and more of us are joining on-line communities and sharing our creativity. Over the past few years light painting has become a prominent presence on Flickr and there are some truly talented people out there. If your new to light painting then check out below to be inspired and whats great is these kind and generous people on Flickr are willing to share their techniques and help you with your own creativity!
"Shining Light on Cancer is a Flickr group donating light painting images to create a book for cancer charity. We are interested in a global light painting collaboration to create projects to help those with cancer, get photos into hospitals to help those going through treatment have a moment to forget their surroundings and circumstances and enjoy the beauty and magic of the light painting art form. Who should join this group? Any one who light paints, is interested in light painting or interested in fighting cancer, in other words everyone. If your not a light painter perhaps there's other skills or suggestions you can provide the group to help the project. Images will be chosen from the group for the book. Were interested in creating a website so any help or suggestions for a website or book publishing would be helpful. The images to be submitted to the group are light paintings. Light painting at it's most basic are long exposures with either a moving light source or moving the camera while aiming it at a light source to create light streaks. Star trails record the light from stars as the earth moves which to me is light painting using nature and can be submitted to this group. Thanks for helping us fight cancer and make a difference in people's lives during a difficult time".
The short film above is by light painting extraordinaire JacquiJSB who is just one of many artists to kindly donate work to the cause. You can find out more about Shining Light on Cancer here and check out more work by JacquiJSB here.
Let us know what you think of any of the work here or via Facebook.
