Bio:
I have recently graduated from Silversmithing and Jewellery at The Glasgow School of Art. My recent work is based on the tradition of wishes; the sentiment, hope and sometimes selfishness behind them. I wanted to create a collection of jewellery which expresses the magic of a wish. I researched a range of wish traditions as visual inspiration for my work, for example wishing on a dandelion seed or when we blow out our birthday candles.
The most entertaining part of my research came about when i decided to make an installation piece. I began asking people to make a wish and write it down for me. The reaction to this was amazing and i have collected wishes from people all over the world. Each wish is individual and offers a small insight into the life of the wisher, what they truly want if they could have anything in the world. I have selected 100 of the most thought provoking wishes to etch onto small tag shapes. From light-hearted and funny to extremely moving, these wishes were a lot of fun to collect.
