I happened upon Temporary Secretary as Sarah, the creator recently came runner up in our Fun Pet Photography Competition.

Temporary Secretary is both a fashion design blog and accessories business which is run by Sarah the 'Temporary Secretary'.

"For so long, I have taken on (and hidden behind) the persona of "Temporary Secretary". I am, of course, not a real Temporary Secretary by profession. Not in the true sense. I don't sit at my desk all day long to input data, do the filing, general admin, correspondence.....(Wait. Yeah, that is exactly what I do!) but what I do is so much more fun than that. I get to make cute things for you all and I want to share it with you all and that is why this blog exists".

The blog itself is a lovely read and the jewellery pieces would make wonderful Christmas presents!

Textile Print Designer Amy Sia has six years of experience working in the fashion industry and a degree in fashion design. Working as a textile print designer for fashion and surface design Amy has freelanced for studios in the UK selling to high street and designer clients in the USA and UK.

The stunning florals above are just a small example of Amy's strong portfolio of work which as well as florals includes some great textural work and childrenswear and conversational prints.

Fashion and Textile Museum

Each month I get updates from the Fashion and Textile Museum in London about what's on and courses they are running etc. It's a place I keep meaning to visit but just never get around to.

Next month they have a couple of exciting courses running:

Shoe Design (Introduction) 22nd - 26th August 2011

The green carpet challenge

I came across The Green Carpet Challenge this week which is the vogue blog of Livia Firth who is the wive of Colin Firth. The blog is updated on a regular basis and follows Livia's challenge to bring eco fashion to the red carpet. It's a really good read for anyone with an interest in fashion but it's also great as trend inspiration.

SHOWstudio : Fashion Revolution

Somerset House's fashion exhibition SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution brings the world of photographer Nick Knight's SHOWstudio.com to life. The show includes works by Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh and Vivienne Westwood, and projects featuring Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

Live fashion shoots take place regularly including a British Vogue cover shoot with Nick Knight on 5 & 6 November in the Studio.

SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution is at Somerset House until 20 December, tickets £5, late night opening till 21.00 Thurs and Fri.
