At last night's auction at Christie's, Cindy Sherman's 'Untitled #96' blew past all previous photography records
Christie's had a bumper night, tallying more than $300 million in sales. While not the priciest item up for auction that day, Cindy Sherman's "Untitled #96" from 1981 passed all records for photography, and was sold for $3.89 million.

A collection of paintings from artist Robert Clarke new show "A to Z of dogs", featuring paintings of a selection of man's best friend from Airedale to Zuchon" will be on show from the 1st April at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery.

Recently i happened upon the work of Rebecca Ward which i find fascinating to look at. The lines and colours have so much rythym it would be great to visit one of the installations in person.
Rebecca says of her work:
"My installations are site-specific works dependent upon the space they
occupy. Utilizing existing lines, beams, and angles, each piece I
create is informed by the individual site and its unique linear
movement. Thus, my installations are inherently architectural. I choose
patterns and shapes according to detailed measurements of the
installation site. Ideally these patterns are numerically symmetrical
or somehow numerically balanced, producing a dialogue between line and
space. I initially began working with tape because of the broad range
of colors in which it is available...
This creates an illusionary space, a perceptual play of pattern, color,
light, and texture that is realized by the viewer’s experience of, and
interaction with the work".
Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes creates alot of her work by painting onto plastic and transferring the paint to canvas, like a print. Check out some more of her work here.

Ana Serrano is an artist inspired by both of the cultural contexts in her life, she creates work utilizing a variety of mediums including drawing, collage, sculpture, and motion. Her work bears reference to those in low socio-economic positions, with particular interest in their customs and beliefs, as well as the architecture, fashion, and informal economies, present within this segment of society.
