Create 2013 is hosted at the Wheelwright building in Dewsbury and opens on the evening of Friday 21 June when invited guests take a first look at the art, design and photography exhibitions. The college’s renowned fashion show will also launch the event with a public show and a VIP show.
The Batley School of Art will be transformed into an impressive gallery, exhibiting the talent and hard work of the school’s students.
Students from across the region will be presenting their work in a celebratory event that runs over five days. CREATE offers pupils from local schools the chance to attend and explore a future in the visual arts.
Karen Matula, head of Creative Industries at Kirklees College, said, “The end of year show at Batley School of Art never fails to attract interest from the local area and is a fantastic opportunity for our students to demonstrate their talent. The range of work on show is mesmerizing and each student’s individual story behind the work is special.”
Create 2013 is open to the public on Friday 21 June 6-9pm, Saturday 22 June 10-2pm and Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 June from 10am-4pm.
The fashion shows are on Friday 21 June. The VIP show is on Friday at 6.30–7.30pm and the public show is at 8-9pm. Tickets for the fashion show cost £3 and can be purchased from the Batley School of Art reception.
