The brief is to design a card that uses illustrated spring flowers as the main focus of the design.
Your design could be suitable for either Mothers’ Day or Easter and should include appropriate sentiment for the occasion.
Please consider your colour palette. Blues or pinks have performed well for Mothers’ Day in the past and yellows / lavender blues work for Easter. Experiment with colour for an exciting but commercial design.
Photographic, painterly, pencil, collage, graphic and pastel techniques have been used to create designs that are selling well in 2009 spring ranges. You can use any technique or combination of mediums that you feel work for a successful floral image.
Check out the examples included on this page and in the gallery but also do your market research go in stores and see what people are buying. The supermarkets are full of great colours and displays and the garden centres are array with wonderful flowers – be inspired!
