The aim of this brief is to develop New Baby character/s that would be suitable for our New Baby card range in M&S.
The Character/s can be drawn graphic, illustrative, painterly, and sketchy. However you may want to explore the use of other mediums and drawing styles suitable for character drawing.
Don’t think just about drawing babies, they could be baby animals like ducklings, lambs, rabbits, elephants etc…
Look at children’s books, the high street, and soft toys, the Internet etc for inspiration.
Try and think about different poses for the character/s and how the character/s works in different situations and scenarios. Also consider what kind of text/font could be used for captions, would it be hand drawn or is there a particular font that compliments the character style.
Please see below for examples of our past designs for New Baby.
Check out M&S to see what's currently in-store.
