Here at Tigerprint we sell lots of traditional cards and we need them to fit in with the reputation of our company, which is far from old fashioned.
The brief is to develop a beautiful traditional card for the ranges, which can either, be for a Female or Male recipient of any age or alternatively blanks.
What can you do to appeal to the traditional consumer? Traditional doesn’t mean dowdy; it means beautiful, thoughtful and appealing designs.
Make sure you conduct some market research and find out what our customers at Marks & Spencer look for when buying ‘traditional’ cards.
This brief leaves you to explore whichever medium you feel is most relevant for your concept. It could be the image itself that you draw or paint, or it could be creating a traditional layout using handmade appliqués, text or photographs When designing please always consider the suitability for the Marks and Spencer’s customer.
Things to consider:
• The card size to design to can either be 127 mm x 178 mm or 150 mm x 150mm
• Traditional subject matter (gardening, football, floral, cakes etc)
• Formatting (place these subjects in an interesting way. What can you do to make the card look up to date?
• Appropriate captions
• Handmade treatments (optional)
• Colours (a palette that does not go out of fashion)
• Traditional patterns (brocade, damask etc
• Appropriate mediums ( Hand drawn, painted, digital or handmade etc)
